What happens when dreams and reality begin to blur? Japanese-born, NYC-based artist Maiko Kikuchi has spent years exploring that threshold through theater, puppetry, and installation. In Note From a Sheep I Met at the Dawn, she leads audiences through surreal vignettes where ordinary objects transform into immersive worlds of visible daydreams.

Kikuchi’s journey from sculpture to puppetry has produced striking characters—giant faces, magical beings, and uncanny figures that elevate the everyday into the extraordinary. Her works have appeared at The Public Theater’s Under the Radar Festival, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Japan Society, HERE Arts Center, and LaMaMa Experimental Theater. She brings her latest creation to The Adams Theater through a week-long residency.
