MISSION
Advance a sustainable performing arts institution that fosters community engagement through diverse and inclusive programming.
VISION
We bridge rural communities and high-caliber performing arts, providing a presenting stage, a creative laboratory, and a vital civic gathering place in downtown Adams, Massachusetts.
PROGRAM
THE ADAMS THEATER PRESENTS SERIES
From May through October, our season features dynamic, multidisciplinary programs across four core pillars:
-
Music: An acoustically resonant stage spanning classical ensembles, jazz, contemporary acoustic, and international sounds.
-
Dance (Choreography & Residency Lab): Developed primarily through our creative residencies, offering independent companies the spatial flexibility and concentrated time to develop and present ambitious movement works.
-
Spoken Word: Dedicated to live storytelling, play readings, literary presentations, and community story slams.
-
Art of the Object: Site-specific work spanning puppetry, physical theater, and circus arts, with the spatial flexibility to transition effortlessly between expansive staging and more intimate settings
Our residency program supports independent artists from cross-cultural and underrepresented backgrounds in creating original work. A core tenet of the incubator is building lasting community bridges through open rehearsals, creative workshops, and public dialogues.
THE COMMUNITY ENGINE
We partner with regional organizations and collaborators to co-create events, from live music and comedy to film screenings and youth programming. The Engine ensures that the theater remains a welcoming and accessible civic resource, strengthening the bond between community life and artistic expression.
